Let's go back to high school for a moment, at a time where you felt like you couldn't talk to anyone about what was going on, whether it was about home life, school, work or friends... simply because you felt no one could understand you, let alone, had time to listen... WELL! Same. Hence why I am here aiming to fundraise for Bridge Builders 15th annual UR Girls Retreat! This program changed my life in 2018 when I was appointed as a group counsellor where I practiced my ethos of allowing each and every individual to feel seen, heard and understood. I believe it's imperative for young people to have a strong support system in order to develop healthily through all the curveballs (milestones) adolescence may surprise them with, just as it did with me (once upon a time)!
I am beyond excited to be a Team Leader in 2022, so please let's make sure this retreat can continue to happen! As well as having this program beneficial to my own self-development, this is a SPECTACULAR experience and challenge for all the young people participating, allowing them to not only learn about themselves, but also peers, often finding that they are not walking this path alone.
