Late last year I had the privilege of attending the Sponsors Dinner at the Bridge Builders UR Retreat for young women.
This wonderful 4 day camp is specifically designed for 70 young women, aged 13 – 15 years of age, who may be struggling with a variety of issues such as: self esteem, self worth, bullying, environment related challenges to name but a few, to come together and feel safe, loved, and free of judgement.
The ultimate goal is to empower, nurture and allow them to develop the skills to recognise their full potential and self belief.
This year marks the 18th year of the UR Retreat camp and has transformed the lives of over 890 participants.
I was quite simply blown away by the stories and interactions of the young women and leaders and found myself wanting to do more.
That then brings me to the present, where I have recently joined the team as a volunteer.
Bridge Builders Youth Charity is a not for profit organisation that relies solely on the kindness of donations and fundraising.
